En la más pura línea del pulp norteamericano, la colección Biblioteca Universal de Misterio y Terror, editada por Uve y a cargo de José Antonio Valverde, llenó los quioscos de principios de los 80 de monstruos blasfemos, crímenes sanguinolentos, víctimas voluptuosas y horrores de otro mundo.

Compuestos, en su mayor parte, por escritores de procedencia española, sus más de 300 relatos –recogidos a lo largo de 40 números semanales– constituyen una de las más acabadas muestras de ficción popular en los años inmediatamente posteriores al franquismo.

Comportan, por otro lado, una valiosa contribución a un género apenas cultivado en nuestro país: el terror. A medio camino entre lo fantástico y lo macabro, anegados de tópicos tanto temáticos como estilísticos, el lugar que les corresponde se ubica en las antípodas de cualquier canon artístico.

Suponen, aun así, un paso adelante en la consolidación del género fantástico y terrorífico en las letras españolas, que por ese entonces también empezaría a adquirir presencia en los medios más cultos.

Película Deadlier than male (1967)

Maravillosa exploitation serie B de la saga con licencia para matar por excelencia, con el protagonismo absoluto de las chicas "no bond" Elka Sommer y Sylva "naricita respingona" Koscina. Desde el punto de vista génerico, estamos ante un eurospy en tod regla. O, lo que es más o menos lo mismo: un thriller conspiranoico pop a tope, sobre la importancia de las petroleras y del petróleo árabe, con un diseño de producción estupendo (para las cuatro perras con las que se contaba), una historia entretenidísima perpetrada por el genio tras la sombra de la mítica productora Hammer y de popularísima la Rank Organisation, el señor Jimmy Sangster, y un pre-final, con una tremenda partida de ajedrez a tamaño real de escándalo. Igual que el final propiamente dicho. El film contó con una segunda parte: Some Girls Do.

Efigie - Último sueño (2003): La banda que nos ocupa pertenecía a la nueva camada de exponentes del Metal ~~argento~~ y daba con "Ultimo sueño" un muy buen primer paso a nivel discográfico, ya que si bien la placa contenía solo 5 temas – lo que se dice un EP -, no tenía desperdicio, mostrándolos amalgamados en su propuesta (un Power Metal melódico de tintes clásicos) y arriesgándose en otros caminos al hacer "Tu eres su seguridad" de Hermética. Melodía y pasión a graneles! Eso...nadie lo puede negar.

Er is Hoop tapes: Van U Wil Ik Zingen

I have already written some stuff about the tape label we once had and because of a Facebook post last week, my friend Ralf suggested to upload this compilation tape we once did with 3 local bands from Amersfoort.

‘Van U Wil Ik Zingen’ Another Dutch basement tape from Er Is Hoop, this one featuring three bands. TOTAL CHAOZ is a methadrine thrash group with a female singer; the PUKE is a messy, unformed punk band; and the ASPERITYS are basic punksters that do too many covers. OK for a first effort, but all these amateurish outfits were recorded a bit prematurely.

That’s how the first release on ‘Er Is Hoop’ tapes was reviewed in MRR.
When the Disturbers disbanded, Total Chaoz was the next band. At this time we found out there were more punk bands rehearsing at the same practise space and through graffitti, we started to make contact. Both the Puke and the Asperitys were not strictly from Amersfoort. members were from surrounding villages like Soest and Leusden too.

The Puke were more a ska band than straight on punk and the Asperitys mainly played cover songs by the, at that time, bigger punk bands such as the Exploited and U.K. Subs.

The Puke disbanded a short while later and the band members more or less dissapeared from the punk scene. The Asperitys started to write more and more song by themselves and were part of the first hardcore punk wave in the Netherlands. I think it is well known what happened with Total Chaoz.

I found these Music files on soulseek a long time ago. There was no artwork included, so this time it is just the music and I have no idea what the songtitles of the Puke are.

Joana Amaro from Palma de Mallorca where she lived, although she was born in the Barcelona town of Igualada, she moved to Madrid to study drama and dance, combining studies with sporadic work as a model or vocalist in the recording of an album and her subsequent tour with Lorenzo Santamaría. . This is where the bug comes in and back in Barcelona he starts looking for a group where he can sing.

After going through a couple of bands, the last of them changing their name to AMARO. In 1986 Joana composed together with drummer Zeles Caldés the soundtrack of the film Mordiendo la vida, which passed without pain or glory despite the role of the legendary Paul Naschy.

From this experience came the idea of recording an album that was finally released by Horus in 1989 with the same title as the movie. This means bowling and the appearance in specialized magazines and national radio and television programs.

The following year, she launched herself in the recording of the Bajo presión full length, produced by Jean Mari Ecay and recorded at the KSZ Studios, in Barcelona, which had an impact in the most rock-oriented environments by including a Spanish version of “Still loving you” of Scorpions, here called "Así te amo yo."

Bajo presión is a professional work, with balanced compositions, good lyrics and, above all, very varied, since it plays styles that range from blues to ballads or from the most classic rock to the hardest. The best of Amaro's work, voice, strength and image.

Regarding the themes, apart from the cover, note "Quiero ser estrella / I want to be a star", the desire of every musician, the blusera "Oye cariño / Hey honey", and the two most powerful songs, which open the B side of the vinyl "Señores de la guerra / Lords of the war” and “Bajo presión / Under pressure”. "La noche / The night" is not bad either, one of the few places where all the tribes have a place, a song with a good chorus that wins every time you listen.

In 1992 Joana backs off form music and after three decades, she returns to the world of rock, coinciding with the reissue on CD of her two LPs.

Muchos aficionados la consideran como inspiración para Kick Ass, sin el debido reconocimiento y por lo tanto, unplagio.

Doméstico es una historia gráfica unitaria de 64 páginas a color, el debut como guionista Sebastián De Caro, y uno de las contadas publicaciones en Argentina de Diego Greco, talentoso autor con proyección internacional. Junto con los colores de Catriel Tallarico, le dan vida a una historia sensible y apasionante.

La historia es sencilla pero con profundo mensaje: Mariano es un joven sometido a tratamientos psicológicos se las juega el todo por el todo para escaparse de los médicos y ser un superhéroe por el amor de Lara, su ex novia quien intenta seguir con su vida. Así nacerá Doméstico un superhéroe con un solo propósito luchar contra la adversidad y alcanzar sus sueños. O así lo cree Mariano.
