Niño indígena apropiado como sirviente en Argentina

Esta fotografía histórica es una pieza documental del archivo del Museo Histórico Regional Emma Nozzi en Carmen Patagones.

Ilustra la práctica de la apropiación de niños de pueblos originarios en la Patagonia argentina a finales del siglo XIX.

La imagen retrata a un niño indígena junto a hombres blancos en Carmen de Patagones, un contexto posterior a la denominada Campaña del Desierto (1878-1885).

Los historiadores describen a estos niños como un "botín de guerra". Eran hijos de indígenas asesinados o confinados que terminaban siendo entregados a familias acomodadas de la región para realizar tareas domésticas o de servidumbre.

Pérdida de Identidad: Una vez en sus nuevos hogares, estos niños eran frecuentemente bautizados y sus nombres originales eran cambiados, borrando así sus vínculos culturales y familiares.

Ubicación: Carmen de Patagones y Viedma fueron puntos centrales donde se registraron estas "adopciones" forzosas en casas de familias criollas o de inmigrantes.
