AVISO IMPORTANTE SOBRE EL NOMBRE Y LA FORMACIÓN DE SINISTER
Hola a todos:
Me gustaría referirme brevemente a los anuncios recientes en redes sociales que involucran a antiguos miembros de Sinister que llevan casi 30 años fuera de la banda. Nuestra preocupación se centra específicamente en el uso del nombre. Creemos que esto puede generar confusión entre los fans y los promotores, dando la impresión de que se trata de una encarnación oficial o actual de Sinister, cuando NO es así.
En primer lugar, quiero dejar claro quiénes son los fundadores originales de la banda. En 1986, en el sótano de mi casa en Ridderkerk, un buen amigo mío, Ron vd Polder, y yo comenzamos una banda llamada REDEEMER; más tarde se unió Klaas Zwaving y cambiamos el nombre a Sinister. Posteriormente, Corzas Nanuruw se incorporó al bajo.
A lo largo de los años, la banda ha pasado por diferentes formaciones, pero Sinister siempre ha seguido siendo la misma banda, con su propia historia, identidad y legado. Respetamos plenamente las contribuciones que los antiguos miembros han hecho a la historia de Sinister y a la música que creamos juntos. Sin embargo, eso no convierte a nadie en miembro actual de Sinister, ni les otorga el derecho de presentarse como otra versión de la banda.
Entendemos que los músicos pueden interpretar y celebrar la música de su pasado. Las bandas tributo y los antiguos miembros que tocan canciones de su historia no son nada inusual en el mundo de la música.
Por ello, es muy importante saber lo siguiente: el nombre SINISTER es una marca registrada. Tomaremos las medidas legales oportunas para proteger nuestros derechos y evitar el uso no autorizado del nombre por parte de esa otra formación y de los promotores que contraten a dicha banda. Preferiríamos gestionar cualquier asunto legal o comercial de manera privada y profesional, en lugar de convertirlo en una disputa pública.
Lo más importante es que queremos centrar nuestra energía donde corresponde: en la música, en nuestros fans y en el futuro de mi banda, con el lanzamiento del nuevo álbum y los conciertos en vivo que nuestra agencia, District19, nos está organizando.
Y para todos los que se lo pregunten: NO ESTOY MUERTO. Ya estoy sano de nuevo, me siento fuerte y con muchas ganas de volver al escenario junto a Alesa, Stefano y Frank para continuar la historia de Sinister. Esta formación se siente como una familia, y nos estamos centrando en interpretar repertorios de la vieja escuela que no se han escuchado en décadas.
Así que, RECORDAD: Solo hay un Sinister, y este es el verdadero Sinister.

Sinister es una banda pionera de death metal neerlandesa, formada en 1988 en Schiedam, Países Bajos. Son ampliamente considerados como una de las agrupaciones más importantes de la escena europea del death metal, conocidos por un sonido implacable de la vieja escuela que combina precisión técnica con una intensidad brutal.
(1988–1991): Fundada por los vecinos Aad Kloosterwaard (batería) y Ron van de Polder (guitarra), a pesar de no tener experiencia musical previa. Tras incorporar a Mike van Mastrigt en la voz, su maqueta de 1990, *Perpetual Damnation*, vendió más de 1.500 copias, lo que les valió un contrato con Nuclear Blast en 1991.
(1992–1996): Su álbum debut, *Cross the Styx* (1992), se convirtió en un clásico de culto dentro de la escena metalera *underground*. Continuaron con *Diabolical Summoning* (1993) y *Hate* (1995), consolidando su estatus como una fuerza a nivel mundial y realizando extensas giras, incluida una gira por 55 ciudades de Estados Unidos.
(1997–2003): La banda experimentó varios cambios en su formación; cabe destacar que se convirtieron en una de las primeras bandas de death metal en contar con una vocalista femenina, Rachel Heyzer, para los álbumes *Creative Killings* (2001) y *Savage or Grace* (2003). Tras una agotadora gira en 2003, la banda se disolvió oficialmente.
(2005–Presente): En 2005, la banda se reformó con un cambio importante: el batería fundador, Aad Kloosterwaard, pasó a ocuparse de la voz principal, puesto que ha mantenido desde entonces. Firmaron con Massacre Records y han mantenido un ritmo de lanzamientos prolífico, incluyendo *Afterburner* (2006) y *Deformation of the Holy Realm* (2020).

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING THE SINISTER NAME AND LINE-UP
Hi everyone,
I would like to briefly address the recent announcements on social media involving former Sinister members who haven't been in the band for almost 30 years. Our concern is specifically the use of the name. We believe this can create confusion for fans and promoters, giving the impression that this is an official or current incarnation of Sinister, which it is NOT.
First, let me make it clear who the original founders of the band are. In 1986, in my basement in Ridderkerk, a good friend of mine, Ron vd Polder and I started a band called REDEEMER, later on joined by Klaas Zwaving We changed our name to Sinister. Later on Corzas Nanuruw joined on bass.
Over the years, the band has gone through different line-ups, but Sinister has always remained the same band, with its own history, identity, and legacy. We fully respect the contributions that former members have made to Sinister's history and the music we created together. But that does not make someone a current member of Sinister, nor does it give them the right to represent themselves as another version of the band.
We understand that musicians may perform and celebrate music from their past. Tribute bands and former members playing songs from their history are nothing unusual in the music world.
So, it is very important to know: the name SINISTER is a registered trademark. We will take the appropriate legal steps to protect our rights and prevent unauthorized use of the name towards the other line-up and promoters booking that band. We would prefer to handle any legal or business matters privately and professionally, rather than turning them into a public dispute.
Most importantly, we want to focus our energy where it belongs: on the music, our fans, and the future of my band, with the new album coming out and live gigs our agency District19 is booking for us.
And for everyone wondering: I AM NOT DEAD. I am healthy again, feeling strong and looking forward to getting back on stage with Alesa, Stefano, and Frank to continue the story of Sinister. This line-up feels like family, and we are focusing on playing old-school sets that haven't been heard in decades.
So, REMEMBER: There is only one Sinister, and this is the real Sinister.
