Jurua es la forma en que los Guaraníes llaman a los blancos. Literalmente quiere decir bocón, el que habla demasiado.
En 1992, Celulosa Argentina donó a la Universidad Nacional de la Plata 6500 hectáreas de montes nativos en la provincia de Misiones. Esos montes eran habitados desde tiempos ancestrales por tres comunidades Mbya Guaraní.
Desde 1994 esas comunidades, amparadas en la constitución nacional están reclamando la tenencia de las tierras para mantener su cultura.
En el año 2001 el decano de la universidad se comprometió a devolverles la tierra en el menor tiempo posible. Seis años después y ante la falta de respuesta los caciques se reúnen para emprender un viaje de 1500km hasta la plata en un viejo colectivo que atravesará el país a 60km por hora.
Lo que comienza siendo un documental blanco sobre los guaraníes se transforma lentamente en un documental de los guaraníes sobre los hombres blancos.
Jurua es una película sobre una promesa, un viaje y una lucha entre dos cosmovisiones.
