Touch había lanzado su álbum debut homónimo, participó por estar bajo el mismo manágement de Rainbow; el bajista bebió de una botella de cerveza con una una abeja dentro, fue picado y debió ser internado
Riot promocionaba su segundo álbum de estudio Narita, con sonido cercano a la NWOBHM, fueron bien recibidos, el público los conocía
Scorpions presentaba Animal magnetism (1980)
Saxon fue la única banda NWOBHM, promociona Wheels of steel
April Wine de Canadá promocionaba su disco Harder... faster (1979)
Judas Priest habían lanzado su sexto álbum de estudio British steel (1980); KK Downing comentó haber estado muy nervioso al principio, por si "se pudiera cortar una cuerda, pero después de la primera canción mis nervios se fueron, los fanáticos estaban claramente con nosotros, fue un gran día"
Rainbow fue la banda principal, cerró el evento, el último de la gira promocional de Down to earth (1979); su lista de temas fue similar al resto de su gira, pero en exclusiva interpretaron Stargazer, y fueron los únicos con pirotecnia, también fue el último concierto del baterista Cozy Powell con Rainbow
El evento reunió a 35000 personas, según los organizadores perdió dinero, pero decidieron hacer otro al año siguiente
