Herschell Gordon Lewis (nacido el 15 de junio de 1929 en Pittsburgh, Pensilvania) es un director estadounidense, conocido por ser el creador del cine gore. A menudo es llamado "El Padrino del Gore", aunque su carrera ha incluido trabajos en diferentes subgéneros del cine de explotación, como películas de delincuencia juvenil, eróticas, infantil y por lo menos una comedia rural. Allmovie describió así su carrera: "Más conocido por sus películas gore, fue un pionero, fue más allá donde nadie se atrevió, experimentó las profundidades de la repugnancia y de la incomodidad en pantalla con mal gusto e imaginación, mucho más que cualquiera de esta época".
